Then calms down with a poinient (sp?) ending.
What I really wanted through listening to the whole thing is for Stephanie's Vocals to RIP! She sort of sing/whispers during the whole album, which just means that while recording she had too much of her own voice in her headphones and not enough band in the mix while recording. If she had brought down her voice some and pumped up say, the Guitar in her earpiece, she probably would have recorded the whole album differently. I say it reminded me of a Berlin or a GARAGE in theory. But I so wanted her to really lay into a few of the songs.
Overall, it was a GREAT first attempt. But I find it's not really a RADIO ready BIG HIT generating album. IT definitely is worthy of your money. But as far as CATCHY tunes. I SO WANTED a HOOK I could come away with. It is too STORY telling without the IMPACT of being able to FOLLOW the story in the music kind of songs. Whoever mixed it did a GREAT job though. There was definitely a good balance to the mixes. But it stands for some subtle improvements. THE GOOD NEWS IS: The Brehms are going back into the studio to put out their SECOND album efforts! I hope with the experience they've achieved from performing and recording and record sales this time around, they have learned to focus their efforts on portraying themselves a little better in public appearances. Listening to the albumn after seeing them recently LIVE, it was like I thought a recommendation of "HEY GET A TATTOO AND LIVE IT UP A LITTLE!" Would have helped. I so, want them to have that LIVE IN CONCERT ROCK the HOUSE FEEL. TRULY, they are a split personality band. GREAT in PERSON, but SHOCK THE SHIT OUT OF YOU AWESOME on ALBUM.
